The Story of HealthCare U

Like many business owners, we ran our healthcare businesses with one fundamental belief—the most important part of the company is our people.
With that in mind, we knew the most important investment we could make was the growth and development of those people.
To that end, we searched for the best training possible, but what we found left us… disappointed. Traditional methods of ‘live’ training were inefficient, expensive, and ineffective. Virtual training solutions were better, but all lacked a critical component for success—relevance!
In the past, we’ve tried online solutions for our medical device reps, but kept hearing the same feedback—“It’s OK, but I wish the training was specific to healthcare.”
That’s when the idea of HealthCare U emerged.

Why not create a platform of hyper-relevant, on-demand training content that the team could use efficiently from any place in the country?
So that’s what we set out to develop.
A unique training platform for a unique industry—one that’s so easy it truly changes training from “something you did one time” to something you do all the time. One that delivers immediate results. Something powerful enough that our own reps would demand to have it.

Our Founders
Vick Tipnes
Hi, I’m Vick, and I’ve spent over 18 years in the healthcare space.
I started out my career by founding a radiology company that grew to 8 radiology centers around the state of Florida.
After that, I started Blackstone Medical Services in 2010. We started with one employee and have grown to one of the top 5 sleep testing companies in the country with close to 100 employees. In fact, Blackstone made the Inc 5000 for fastest growing companies in 2017 and 2018 achieving 345% growth over the last three years.
I’ve spent years looking for better training for my own medical device reps, and when I couldn’t find what I was looking for, the spark of the idea that became HealthCare U was born.
Ultimately, I’m a big believer of investing in yourself, and I’m excited to share all of my knowledge and expertise with you.

Vick Tipnes

I’m Tony, and early on in my career, I spent 15 years working as a sales rep and sales leader in the insurance space. Ultimately, I ran the Southern California market for Hartford Life.
After that, I spent 11 years building an award-winning, full-service advertising agency in Florida where we developed successful marketing solutions for some of the biggest companies in the country.
In addition to my own love for sales, I’ve always had a passion for mentoring and training—partially because a great training program propelled my own sales success. HealthCare U is the culmination of all of this.
I truly believe sales is a very honorable and important profession when done correctly, and I look forward to helping you develop your own sales success story.
